Choosing
the right package –
Some
of the things you need to consider are
When
and for how long do you want to go
Demand
from all around the world for heli-skiing is very high. This is
the ultimate form of skiing and consequently many book their heli-ski
trips months in advance. Finding available space can be a key to
planning your trip.
We
always have up to date information on where and when space is
available
Most
heli-skiers opt for a seven day package to enjoy this fantastic
experience to the full. However, if your time or budget doesn’t
allow there are a good selection
of
shorter packages available depending on the operator you choose.
We
know who offers what and can locate the right package for you
Which
helicopter
The
helicopters most often used are the Bell 212, which can carry 11
skiers and one guide or the A Star with a maximum capacity of five
skiers and one guide.
Different
operations use different helicopters and vary the number of groups
that ski
with each helicopter.
We can tell you who uses which helicopter, groups
sizes and group numbers and
discuss which will be appropriate for you
What
terrain
Each
heli-ski operator is granted an exclusive licence to a 1,000
square miles or more of mountain terrain that will include alpine
skiing on glaciers and in open bowls plus steeper runs through the
trees. The feature that will most affect the nature of your skiing
experience will be the actual weather and snow conditions during
your week.
However,
there are some differences between each area, which we can advise
you about
Style
of accommodation
Wherever
you stay a high level of comfort and facilities will be provided.
Accommodation ranges from small ranch style lodges to luxurious
resort hotels and will usually be in a remote location.
Depending
on your preferences we can help you decide which lodge might be
best for your needs
