The guides are
all professionally qualified and certified by UIAGM and
ACMG, the international and Canadian Mountain guides
association. They are specially trained in avalanche
forecasting, terrain and snow pack evaluation, rescue and
emergency medical techniques. Their expertise and
enthusiasm will ensure that your skiing is both enjoyable
and as safe as possible.
Systems
The
heli-ski operators take great care to ensure that there
are detailed safety and rescue systems in place.
Continuous three way radio communication is maintained
between guide, helicopter and base. Weather and snow
conditions are constantly monitored and evaluated. Rescue
equipment is carried by the guides, the helicopters and
some of the guests. Each skier is issued with an avalanche
transceiver and is trained in its use before skiing.
Risks
Heli-skiing
takes place in a wilderness enviroment and there are
inherent risks which it is impossible to control from
avalanches and other natural hazards as well as helicopter
travel in the mountains.
You must be aware of these risks and sign a release of
liability before helicopter skiing.
