Georgia feels like the new frontier of skiing. It’s like the Chamonix Valley without the population, ski lifts and tourism, but even bigger mountains! You need to get there before everyone does! RS – March 2019

Heliskiing in Georgia

Guaranteed snow, high altitude, undiscovered descents…

While Georgia’s main ski resort of Gudauri has started to attract its first international skiers, Mestia in the west of the country is still undiscovered.

Offering the highest heliskiing in Europe, Georgia is easily accessible from the UK, but at this point still remains below the radar for most European skiers.

Based in the UNESCO listed town of Mestia, you can be heliskiing from as high as 4100m on any day. On this trip we aim to take you heliskiing every day, with at least 14 hours of flying during the week.

However, in any given week, ‘down days’ may well occur due to bad weather. If this is the case, Tetnuldi and Hatsvali are only a short journey away, with lift-served skiing up to 3100m.

Our group trip to Georgia in March 2021 is a great opportunity to experience this superb heliskiing destination.

Heliskiing in Georgia

The Svaneti region of Georgia in the Caucasus has a huge ski area surrounded by 5000m peaks. There is an excellent snow record, with fresh powder regularly available through to the end of April every season.

The skiing is high, with descents from 3000m-4000m and vertical drops up to 1800m. Most of the skiing is above the treeline, but there are options for tree skiing if the weather closes in.

We use Airbus AS350 B3 helicopters, supplied from the Austrian company Wucher and carrying up to four skiers, plus guide and pilot.

UNESCO Sites in Georgia

Upper Svaneti is one of Georgia’s UNESCO-listed sites, and Mestia has thousands of years of history behind it.

A trip to Georgia offers not just a superb heliski opportunity, but also the chance to explore an ancient culture and excellent modern food and wine.
