New chairlift for Revelstoke

Posted September 11, 2019 under Blog, Canada, Heliskiing

Revelstoke Mountain Resort has recently announced that the Stellar, a new fixed-grip four-man chairlift will be opening this season (2019/20).

Although James Orr Heliski guests will spend most of their time in Revelstoke either cat skiing or heliskiing, we always build a couple of days in at the start of our trips for you to settle into the time-zone and to get your ski legs back.

This is where you get the chance to explore the 1263 hectares of the Revelstoke Ski Area, taking in the South, North, Greely and Powder Assault bowls and enjoy the 10.5m average snowfall.

Easier access to the Ripper Chairlift

And this full area is serviced by just three lifts up until now: The Revelation Gondola, The Stoke four-man chair and The Ripper, another four-man chair.

The Stellar Chair will open up some new beginner and intermediate terrain accessible from the top of the Revelation Gondola as well as access to six new runs. More importantly for our guests, it also provides much easier access to the Ripper Chair.

The passenger uplift capacity will be 1800 people per hour, taking just three minutes.

Guests will now have the option of choosing to make their first tracks in the Ripper glades, or heading straight to the alpine off the Stoke Chair.

More Chairlift Upgrades

In addition to the new chairlift, the Resort’s existing infrastructure will also see significant upgrades.

The Revelation Gondola and The Stoke Chair will see the addition of 21 new chairs and 22 cabins to ensure they run at capacity.

The Ripper chairlift will also see its uplift capacity increase by 22% with the addition of 20 new chairs.
