New Lifts Planned for Revelstoke

Posted November 08, 2019 under Blog, Canada, Heliskiing

Revelstoke has come a long way since it opened in December 2007 after an initial investment of more than €200 million.

The resort’s ski area now covers 3100 acres, serviced by a single gondola and two four-man chairlifts. This winter the new Stellar chairlift will be added to that list.

Biggest vertical descent in North America

We have been offering heliskiing trips from Revelstoke since 2007 because of the superb snow record and skiing on offer.

Revelstoke offers the biggest vertical descent in North America (1712m) as well as a longest run of more than ten miles.

New lifts planned

In May 2019, owners Northland Properties revealed the next stage in the development of the ski area. The map below shows the current lifts and runs and the new lifts planned.

The new lifts are all focused on the highest sections of the ski area.

Huge new areas opened up

After the changes, skiers will be able to access the area above the current Ripper quad chairlift thanks to a high-speed lift in the North Bowl of Mt Mackenzie.

There will also be a new four-man chairlift added to the South Bowl, which will open up another 395 high altitude acres of skiing.

The later stages of this phase of development will also see two more lifts installed.

According to the official release:

The focus of Phase 2 will be on increasing uphill lift capacity to accommodate increased visitation, as well as terrain development at higher elevations in more snow-reliable areas within the resort’s current boundary.

Over 20 new lifts planned

There is a third stage of development that has also been floated outlining a possible 23 lifts.

The longer-term goal of the resort was also outlined:

The expansion program focus is to further establish its unique brand as a boutique world-class year around destination.
